It was sparked by a former bandmate who tried to screw us over. He kept pushing us to incorporate (i.e. Tempus, Inc.) at a point in our "careers" where we didn't even have regular gigs. Hell, even our rehearsals were hardly regular. He wanted to handle all the business stuff ... said he'd be "CEO" since he had "connections" to push the paperwork through more quickly. We could all pick the "C*O" title we wanted. We talked about shares, about percentages, about buyouts, about trademarks ... business shit. Now, a lot of bands do this ... it's pretty normal when things start to get big. But when we realized that he talked more about money than he did about music, we decided that incorporating would be a bad idea. Especially considering that percentages are useless when there's nothing to be divided.
He left when we refused to incorporate.
I'm pretty fucking glad we caught on when we did.
Hey nice guy
I see the side you're hiding
One big lie
Oh and I'm sick of fighting
That's right, I'm sick of fighting
Got a problem?
Maybe you wish you were me...
Hey Judas, you screwed us.
Waste of breath, you're dead to me.
No cashcow, just bullshit;
pack your bags and fucking leave.
Hey tough guy
you don't have your head screwed on straight
'cause you know what you are
you're nothing, you never will change
yea, you'll always be the same
Just a problem
Maybe you wish you were me...

I read Eric's journal ... if you don't read it, just read one line.
"If you could simply pack your things and leave something like deviantART, then I have to contest that you never loved it in the first place."
It's a bit of an understatement to say that I have my reservations about continuing to be involved with this community. And I still stand by what I said. But he's right. As much as I can try convince myself to walk away, it's just not something that I can do (yet?). Hell, Scott's still here and he's been fucked over more than any of us.
So let's see how well I scale in the meantime.

On your last point; my feelings exactly. I was torn, but i've decided to stay - for now anyhow. the community is not the current admin, it's more than that.
